Vaginal Hysterectomy

This hysterectomy is performed through the vagina; there are no abdominal incisions. This is the preferred way to perform a hysterectomy as healing is quicker; however, it can not be used for all gynecologic conditions. At Gynecology and Infertility Associates, we will perform a Vaginal Hysterectomy if at all possible. A woman is usually able to be discharged from the hospital on the first postoperative day. She is often able to return to work after 4 weeks.
